EDUCATION
I know from my days working on education reform in government that it’s almost impossible to exaggerate how little those who work on education policy think about ‘how to improve learning.’
Empower individual teachers and local school districts determine what is best for their community. Work towards reducing the number of standardized tests that are administered. Standardized testing should be a tool to assist teachers in identifying areas that their students are in need of additional instruction. Results of standardized testing should not be tied to school funding. Funding should be uniform per student across the state and follow the students.
College costs, student loans and student loan debit needs to be addressed. Student loan forgiveness obviously appeals to those that have taken on these loans while people that have either paid the loans off or didn’t take the loans out to begin with are typically opposed to any loan forgiveness. There is a common ground solution to the student loan fiasco we as a country find ourselves in. Make all current loans interest free, allow discharge through bankruptcy proceedings.
